About Kelsey Blake
Kelsey Blake is a natural dye artist and lifelong maker who first began experimenting with color in her own kitchen—using food scraps like avocado pits and black tea to dye wooden toys for her children. That early curiosity sparked a passion that has grown alongside her family and garden on the southern Oregon coast, where she now cultivates a dye garden and explores the incredible spectrum of color hidden in everyday plants.
Blending her love for gardening, fiber arts, and playful experimentation, Kelsey brings an approachable, hands-on spirit to her work. Whether it’s hammering flower prints onto fabric and clothes, coaxing deep blues from fresh indigo, or turning soy milk into a mordant for botanical paper prints, she invites others into the joy of discovery—often likening it to the magic of childhood: making flower-and-stick potions in the mud.
Her classes explore a variety of techniques, from eco-printing and natural dyes on fabric and paper to the whimsical (and kid-friendly) fun of dyeing wooden beads or making naturally colored playdough. She’s especially passionate about helping people see that nature’s color palette is all around us—sometimes just outside the door or in the kitchen compost bin.
Kelsey lives in Coos Bay with her husband and two boys. When she’s not elbow-deep in dye projects, you’ll often find her baking sourdough, or whipping up her signature desserts. She and Eva of Long Table Farm have been friends for years through their shared love of sailing, and this class is a long-dreamed collaboration they’re thrilled to bring to life.
